Résumé

Ferdinand Steiner is the Principal Clarinettist of the Mozarteum Orchestra, Salzburg. In addition to his orchestral playing, he is also an active international chamber musician and soloist.

Steiner studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Graduation with Distinction.

As a guest principal clarinettist he has played with many renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Gurzenich Orchestra Colonia, the Camerata Salzburg and many more, with conductors as Claudio Abbado, Bernhard Haitink, Franz Welser Möst, Riccardo Muti, Sir Neville Marriner, Hubert Soudant and Ivor Bolton.

During Steiner's studies in Vienna he was a temporary player for the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera, and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, Ferdinand Steiner often performs at prestigious concert halls in Salzburg and all over Europe, such as the Großen Festspielhaus Salzburg and the Großen Saal des Mozarteums Salzburg, Brucknerhaus Linz, the Phimharmonie Munich, Old Opera House Frankfurt, the Palau de la Musica Barcelona and many more.

He also appeares as a guest artist at festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, Int. Mozart Week Salzburg, Stellenbosh International Chamber Music Festival – South Africa, Festival Mozart Nantes – France, Festival International de Galicia, Spain, Mozartfestival Kanazawa Japan, Carinthischer Sommer - Austria, the Festspiele Grafenegg – Austria, Beethovenfestival Bonn – Germany, Festival Op Locatie – Netherlands, to name but a few.

Steiner has collaborated with many celebrated instrumentalists and singers, including Cecilia Bartoli, Annette Dasch, Bernarda Fink, and Marlen Hartelius. Ferdinand Steiner gives annual Master classes in Japan and South Africa at the Stellenbosh International Chamber Music Festival, as well as concerts.

His many recordings, most at the Label Classic Concert Records, are recognised internationally.
